Dallas DP, Nate Galluppi<\/a>, and I (Roger Woodruff<\/a>) met up in Houston recently for a Dr. Oz<\/a> shoot.\u00a0 The day-time TV doctor and real life surgeon was in Texas to spread the word on a life-saving method known as the \u201cTexas Two Step.\u201d\u00a0 While it may sound like I\u2019m talking about a common dance move, it\u2019s actually a CPR method.<\/p>\n

Most people think CPR involves the mouth, but recent studies have found mouth to mouth does not work.\u00a0 The \u201cTexas Two Step\u201d consists of directing someone to call 911 and doing chest compressions until an ambulance arrives.\u00a0 We covered two events with the super solid Sony<\/a> F900 XDCam.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Nate and I were both rocking F900s with an Odyssey 7Qplus attached.\u00a0 While we did record to XDCam discs for the edit, our producer had us record a proxy file on the Odyssey.\u00a0 He used this second recording to start doing a rough edit while traveling back to New York.\u00a0 It also makes a great backup.<\/p>\n

Our first location was a \u00a0high school that was hosting a heath fair.\u00a0 The second location was Houston\u2019s Memorial Mall.\u00a0 At both locations we shot Dr. Oz interacting with the crowd, interviewing doctors, nurses, and participants, and teaching the \u201cTexas Two Step.\u201d\u00a0 We also shot plenty of B-roll which consisted of signage and people practicing CPR.<\/p>\n

Once we finished shooting we proceeded to copy over all the footage to our producer\u2019s hard drive.\u00a0 We also handed him the XDCam discs we shot on.\u00a0 After a quick goodbye, our producer rushed out the door to make a flight.\u00a0 It was a smooth shoot and hell, we learned CPR in the process!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
