I recently made the trip out to Katy, TX for the PAC-12 Network.\u00a0 We met up with University of California tight-end, Stephen Anderson. \u00a0Anderson is training for the \u00a02016 NFL scouting combine starting on February 23rd. \u00a0Armed with a Canon C300 and some L-series glass it was time to get to work.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_2773\"<\/a>This was a pretty cool shoot. It\u2019s interesting when you\u2019re following a young man\u2019s journey who has a real shot to make it to the NFL and you can see it in the footage.<\/p>\n

We spent the day shooting Anderson working out and running\u00a0drills with other potential NFL players.\u00a0 I started shooting with my 70-200mm.\u00a0 As the day progressed, I kept getting closer and closer to the action.<\/p>\n

I switched to the 24-70mm and got more in to his \u201cpersonal space.\u201d\u00a0 Anderson quickly got comfortable with the camera.\u00a0 I soon switched to the 16-35mm.\u00a0 Each lens gave a different perspective and a different feeling.\u00a0 Throughout the day I switched between shooting real-time and slo-mo.<\/p>\n

After training, we set up for interviews with Anderson and his trainers.\u00a0 I used two Lite Panels to light my subjects.\u00a0 No fixtures were needed for the background since we used \u201chouse lights.\u201d\u00a0 I shot the interview with the C300 and a Canon 70-200mm f2.8.<\/p>\n

The producer brought his own camera, which was a Panasonic GH4.\u00a0 He had an EF-mount metabones adapter so I gave him a Canon 16-35mm f2.8.\u00a0 We used the GH4 as a low angle wide shot mounted to my MYT Slider.\u00a0 The interviewees talked directly to camera.<\/p>\n

The last thing we did after the interviews was shoot some empty b-roll of the gym and signage.\u00a0 We transferred media over to the producer\u2019s hard drive and then wrapped for the day.\u00a0 It was a lot of fun shooting slo-mo footage.\u00a0 I can\u2019t wait to see how this piece turns out.<\/p>\n
