Lately, Waco has felt like a second home to me.\u00a0 A few months ago I was down there shooting a pilot.\u00a0 Just a week ago I was back to shoot some pick-ups.\u00a0 This time I found myself in Waco, TX shooting a sizzle reel for a potential reality show.\u00a0 Rockin\u2019 a HDX-900, a few Go Pros, and a MYT Slider, I got to work.<\/p>\n

While I can\u2019t tell you exactly what I was shooting because, well, that\u2019s top secret.\u00a0 I can talk to you about equipment, set up, and share some pictures and screen grabs.\u00a0 It was a two-day shoot.\u00a0 We spent the first day following our subjects around.\u00a0\u00a0 We went mudding with them on their ATVs.\u00a0 I attached a few Go Pros to their recreational vehicles.\u00a0 We got some really cool shots.<\/p>\n

Later we filmed them enjoying a BBQ.\u00a0 The night ended with a huge bonfire scene.\u00a0 All of our subjects gathered around to enjoy the fire and each other\u2019s company.\u00a0 To add some depth to the night shots of the bonfire scene I lit the house in the background.\u00a0 I used a 600w open face on the garage and a 1K on the house it\u2019s self.\u00a0 I just wanted there to be something settle in the background instead of complete darkness.<\/p>\n

The second day was all about shooting interviews.\u00a0 The producer wanted the interviews outside so I got out a couple of HMIs.\u00a0 After figuring out the background I set up a scrim and locked that down.\u00a0 I used a 400w HMI as the key and a 200w as a backlight.\u00a0 We literally spent the entire day shooting interviews.\u00a0 Afterwards, with only a few minutes left of sunlight, I pulled out the MYT Slider and shot some \u201cHero Shots\u201d of the entire cast in a nearby field.\u00a0 We ended the day with a scene at a local bar.\u00a0 It was then time to hit the road and head back to Dallas.<\/p>\n

I used the MYT Slider to get this shot. The entire cast posed for a cool “hero shot.”<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I had a blast shooting this sizzle reel.\u00a0 In fact this was my first time shooting one.\u00a0 It\u2019s not much different from shooting a pilot or reality show.\u00a0 I\u2019m looking forward to the prospect of this getting green lighted for a pilot.\u00a0 That would be awesome.<\/p>\n
