\"\"Things are moving along quite nicely here in Waco, TX.\u00a0 As you might recall, I\u2019ve been working on a television pilot for a popular lifestyle network.\u00a0 It seems crazy to think we are only a week away from the final \u201creveal\u201d of the remodeled home.\u00a0 Armed with a HDX 900, Canon 5D and a couple of Go Pros, I\u2019m continuing to do what I love to do in the Lone Star State.<\/p>\n

In this phase of the production it\u2019s all about keeping up with the story lines that the producers feel are important.\u00a0 On top of that we also have to make sure to document all aspects of the construction.\u00a0 When I can\u2019t be at the house I\u2019ll set up a Go Pro to record a time-lapse of the process we need to capture.<\/p>\n

Most of the time I\u2019m shooting \u201cscenes\u201d with the talent and other people involved in the construction process.\u00a0 For this part I rely on the HDX -900.\u00a0 Hooked up to my camera is a wireless monitor where the director can watch the action unfold.\u00a0 If we miss something or need a cut away we\u2019ll get those at the end of the scene.\u00a0 Shooting reality TV is a fast paced process.\u00a0 One thing our director is really trying to avoid is reenactments and over produced scenes.<\/p>\n

After a scene we get OTF\u2019s (On The Fly interviews) with the talent.\u00a0 Sometimes we can make use of Lite Panels or a reflector.\u00a0 Sometimes things are moving so quickly that we just have to make best with just the sunlight or a camera light to give the interviewees a little pop.<\/p>\n

As I mentioned in my last post, I\u2019ve also been shooting a lot of scenics too.\u00a0 This time around I\u2019ve focused more on time-lapses.\u00a0 Of course, a good time-lapse requires patience and some sweet cloud cover.\u00a0 Luckily I\u2019ve had both of those ingredients.\u00a0 The Canon 5D was my camera of choice for time-lapses.\u00a0 I captured time-lapses in two ways, per the producer\u2019s request.\u00a0 I took pictures using an intervalometer and I also just rolled on a shot for 5 to 10 minutes.\u00a0 The producer wanted the editor to have choices and I gave them just that.<\/p>\n

As we draw near the completion of this project I grow more and more excited to see the finished home.\u00a0 The reveal is sure to be an action packed day of shooting. \u00a0There’s still some planning to do as far as where cameras will be placed. \u00a0From what I hear we will be shooting the “reveal” in two different ways to give the editor and producers choices when this show gets cut together. \u00a0I\u2019ll be sure to tell you all about it in the coming week!<\/p>\n
