\"\"One of my favorite clients to shoot for is in the midst of producing some new pilots for a popular lifestyle network.\u00a0 I was brought on board to help out with a pilot being shot in Waco, TX.\u00a0 I was so excited to head to Texas and spend the month out there.\u00a0 With the HDX \u2013 900, Canon 5D, MYT Works Slider, and two pairs of cowboy boats packed I headed west.<\/p>\n

Waco has a bad wrap.\u00a0 People tend to think of that stand off from the \u201890s but it\u2019s actually a pretty nice small town.\u00a0 It\u2019s been really fun exploring the area.\u00a0 Um, hello, the Texas Ranger Museum and Hall of Fame is here.\u00a0 What more could you want? (Yes, Chuck Norris is in there.)<\/p>\n

When I\u2019m not paying my respects to Walker, Texas Ranger, I\u2019m kicking it with the HDX \u2013 900.\u00a0 The first few days of shooting were all about house tours.\u00a0 For those days we were shooting on two HDX \u2013 900s.\u00a0 Demo day was next and boy was it an intense day.\u00a0 There was so much to cover.\u00a0 To make things more challenging, the crew works extremely fast.\u00a0 They definitely kept me on my toes. \u00a0Go Pros are a great way to capture action when you have to be in two places at once. \u00a0I definitely took advantage of the time-lapse feature. \u00a0In just three days we shot 43 tapes.\u00a0 Our executive producer claims this is a record.\u00a0 I believe him.<\/p>\n

With Demo day behind us things started to settle down.\u00a0 I was really looking forward to exploring the Texas landscape with the Canon 5D.\u00a0 I love shooting scenic\u2019s and beauty shots.\u00a0 It\u2019s these kind of assignments where you can take your time and get the shots that really shine visually.\u00a0 Possibly the coolest scenic I have ever shot was one that I stumbled across on my day off.<\/p>\n

This isn’t a “scenic” this is a work of art.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I was driving back to Waco from Dallas.\u00a0 The sun was starting to set and I just decided to get off I-35 South and take the country road instead.\u00a0 While I was about 15 miles outside of Waco I passed a red barn with the Texas state flag painted on its roof.\u00a0 There was a white horse nearby.\u00a0 It was literally glowing gold thanks to \u201cmagic hour.\u201d\u00a0 I had to have this shot.\u00a0 Thank you Texas, thank you.<\/p>\n

So far things have been going really well.\u00a0 Our crew immediately clicked on day one and the atmosphere on set is super positive.\u00a0 In the coming days we\u2019ll be shooting sit down interviews with our talent outside. \u00a0In the distance is an old farmhouse that they are restoring.\u00a0 I can\u2019t wait to get to work on lighting that. \u00a0I also can’t wait to see this house from the late 1920s get transformed into a modern home. \u00a0Don\u2019t worry; I\u2019ll keep you posted.\u00a0 Adios amigos! (Yup, picking up on some Spanish too.)<\/p>\n
