Every January, Go To Crew gets to invite all of our staff DPs to Charleston, SC for our annual retreat! The retreat is a time for everyone to meet and establish in person relationships with one another, refreshers on the company missions and goals, review of gear, and of course, to have fun!
The weekend started off with a State of the Union address hosted by company leaders: Patrick Byrant, Shawn Moffatt, Courtney Crosby, and Erin Gunther. Managing DPs Roger Woodruff and Nate Galluppi also weighed in on new crew expectations and general goals for the company in 2024. With Assignment Desk restructuring in 2024, this was a great refresher for everyone on where we’re expanding to.
Our DPs and apprentices hosted a camera, lighting, and sound workshop in the office in effort to practice tactical skilling, review previous training, and to create a promotional video for the company (keep an eye out for it)! Managing DPs also hosted seminars throughout the weekend on topics such as new gear, marketing yourself to clients, Suburban care, cross shooting, and more. These seminars dove into the technical aspects of their day-to-day production to help answer any questions to keep everyone on the same page.
There was still plenty of time for some bonding activities as well! Not only did the company get to enjoy meals and drinks together, but we also hosted an ax throwing event at Rusty Bull Brewing Company and a dinner event at TopGolf.
A major highlight of the weekend for everyone was getting to know one another on a deeper level. Having the time for our camera crews all across the country to form personal connections and friendships with one another, along with our office staff in Charleston, is invaluable!
