Celebrating SXSW with our Texas Video Camera Crew

SXSW is fun. People, food, music, film, art — what’s not to like?

E! News had our Texas video camera crew Roger Woodruff and me on location at the Zach Theater for the world premiere of the new SciFi/Thriller, Life.

Red Carpet Access with Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal

We met up with our producer before making our way to the red carpet. Once on the carpet we got together with E! News correspondent, Sibley Scoles and hunkered down. Roggg was on the Sony F-800 XDCAM giving him great coverage as the cast and crew of Life started strolling through. Standing behind Roggg I was able to monitor the handheld mic and boom as interviewees came and went. We talked with the writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick who collaborated on Deadpool and Zombieland. Then we got to chat with the two main stars, Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal. Sibley, Ryan and Jake shared in some fun banter and just like that, they were on their way.

This was a great red carpet experience. A world premiere is a fun environment where celebrities and fans abound.

Texas Video Camera Crew On the Red Carpet Again

This year, the SXSW Film Festival will be held in Austin, Texas. Our Texas video camera crew will be back again to get a piece of the action. The festival embodies the creativity of film and celebrates both well-known and up-and-coming artists in front of and behind the camera. There will be nine days of screenings of a variety of films and documentaries. Some Hollywood hits, and some Indie films will be mixed together to bring together people from all walks of life to celebrate innovations of the film world.

This year, there are some big names coming to the red carpet! John Krasinski‘s “A Quiet Place,” which he directs and co-stars in with Emily Blunt is a featured film. Comedian Bo Burnham‘s film “Eighth Grade” is also one of the festival favorites in the lineup. There will also be some stars speaking as keynotes during the festival. Keith Urban, Spike Lee, and Alex Chung, the creator of GIPHY, will all be talking along with many other names across film, music, and news. The SXSW Film Festival has been praised for its unique lineups in the past and this year will be no different!
