Our New York camera crew, Reid Petro, heads to Rhode Island with The Chew’s Carla Hall to check out this growing culinary haven.
New York Camera Crew and ABC’s The Chew Get a Taste of Rhode Island |
Carla Hall and The Chew invited us on a tasty journey to the up-and-coming culinary cities of Newport and Providence, Rhode Island. Pan-seared scallops, refreshing gazpacho, and bean salad from local farms and fishermen truly give the taste of Rhode Island in a dish. Our New York camera crew started out in seaside Newport, tasting some farm (or ocean!) to-table meals at Stoneacre Pantry with Owner David Crowell. |
Then we had the opportunity to sit in on a culinary class at the Johnson and Wales College of Culinary Arts in Providence. Students prepared homemade pasta and local vegetables under the practiced eyes of Chef TJ Delle Donne and Chef Jon, and we were lucky enough to try the creations of some of Rhode Island’s most promising young chefs. By the end of the trip, we had a small taste of all the great things Rhode Island has to offer. The state may be little, but the culinary opportunities are endless.
