Ever wonder what a #1 rated high school football player work out was like? Well, our San Francisco cameraman Craig Goodale got the run through with Najee Harris, a running back from Antioch, CA.
Harris is finishing his junior year and has already become the #1 rated high school player in the country. After his sophomore year, he already had his jersey retired at the Antioch Hall of Fame and was the league’s MVP. However, Harris and his siblings, along with their mother, had a rough go about it moving from place to place and often living out of hotels or cars. They struggled to survive.
The star athlete started playing football very young and soon developed an incredible talent. He worked hard and pushed himself to be able to succeed in football in the hopes to create a better situation for his entire family.
For the shoot, we used two FS7s and a basic audio package. We setup some dynamic lighting for this interview at his home. Each of the interviews we used two cameras to capture interesting angles. Pressed for space, we used the celebs and a few LED panels for the lighting. For his workout routines and training we were able to use a slider and create some great slow-motion shots with dynamic movement.

Hands down the most notable thing about this shoot was Harris himself. He was incredibly humble and genuine and his work ethic is crazy. I have rarely seen that sort of dedication and commitment in a young person, or anyone for that matter. He’s extremely charismatic and always looking to have fun while working hard. He made this shoot enjoyable, and I am sure this is not the last time we will hear about him.
