The music scene in Raleigh, NC has blown up — just look at the city’s first annual Hopscotch Festival for proof. Go To Team’s Jimmy Hall and crew filmed the 3-day event hosted by Independent Weekly’s Grayson Currin and Greg Lowenhagen. Showcasing a variety of indie artists, rappers, and singer-songwriters, the festival featured 130 bands, proving to be an all-out success.
Shot on Panasonic HDX-900, Sony EX3, and a Canon 7D, the crew filmed live shows of bands Lucero, Panda Bear, the Love Language, and No Age. Production Coordinator Becca Finley and her interns Whitney Kendrick and Ginny Perkins landed interviews with Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew, much-buzzed-about blog band First Rate People, and the Carolina’s electro-pop sensation Future Islands.
Raleigh’s hippest music venues, including the Lincoln Theater, the City Plaza, Tir Na Nog, and the Busy Bee Café were highlighted during the shooting. After three exciting days of shooting, the crew took full advantage of their coveted media passes to enjoy Raekwon, Public Enemy, and Washed Out.
